To do this, a fly would have to fly upwards in a vertical direction, upside down, AGAINST gravity. That would take some skill.

i know this one, i was up watching a random ou programme. flys have suckers and hooks on their feet so they can stick to any surface. they fly to the ceiling then do a funny sort of back-flip and land on the ceiling.

Yes. A fly can even land on vertical glass. This is because of tiny microscopic hooks on their feet that allow them to land anywhere.

I saw a fascinating report on flies on TV before. Using a microscope, they were able to measure the size of these hooks. They were about 30 microns across. Glass has surface irregularities that are larger than 30 microns, allowing the flies to latch on. In a room with special superflat glass (surface irregularities of 10 microns or less), flies slid right off the vertical glass and where never able to land on it.

Yes. The feet have hooks on them & no flat surface is really flat. Even glass under an electron microscope has a profile like the Alps.

Flies certainly see the different way up, so it truly is in all risk plenty much less annoying to land the different way up than it truly is good section up. they do exactly a sprint L curve touchdown maximum possibly. image if a plane have been the different way up and had to land.. it truly is kind of like that.

Yes. I think this is because they have very sticky feet. Probably they pick stickiness up from the other sticky things that they land upon. Seriously xx
