If you see small clear gel looking places on your rocks glass or ornaments these are snail eggs. They breed like rabbits. You can empty and clean your aquarium scalding everything that goes in there. Lots of work. There are fish that will kill and eat snails. One is a clown loach I may not have spelled that right. Good luck.

Put a piece of blanched lettuce on the bottom of the tank, the snails with come onto it, then when you're sure most of the snails are on, pull it out.

puffer fish also will help control snail populations. Vegetation keeps them going so the lettuce leaf is a good idea. Using a tea saucer will also get algae to go on it an attract snails too.

Get a clown loach. They've got nice coloring, get along in most community tanks, and they LOVE eating snails. They'll take care of the problem in a few days.

a clown loach (a type of botia) is an excellent fish for snail control. the eat the eggs and the small snails. Skunk botia's are a less expensive alternative (they do not look nearly as nice).

pakistani loaches, also known as YOYO loaches are a good alternative to clowns. They are fast and fun to watch in a group. mine ate all my snails in 2 days.
