You answered the quesiton. He/she was teaching. They don't want people to be able to think for themselves. If they could, they would see through all the BS the extremists are throwing around. Kidnap the teacher, keep the students uninformed.

Many Palestinians think that the US gives Israel 100% unconditional support like the weapons the IDF uses to beat and kill innocent Palestinian civilians like women & children. That's why even Americans who want to help Palestinians can be kidnapped because they don't really like Americans, especailly the Palestinian terrorists. It's really a shame because if the Palestinians could get more Americans on their side they might just get the homeland that they want and kidnapping just makes things worse.

The USA is very friendly towards Israel. Israel is very unfriendly towards Palestinians. If you kidnap an Israeli, why not an American as well, for good measure.
