Pediatric Society (American and Canadian) recommend you feed your baby at 6 months.
Not any sooner.
Age: Birth to 4 months------------
Feeding behavior
• Rooting reflex helps your baby turn toward a nipple to find nourishment
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula ONLY •
Your baby's digestive tract is still developing, which is why solid food is off limits for now.

Your baby probably won't do all these things — they're just clues to watch for.

• Sits well in highchair
• Makes chewing motions
• Shows significant weight gain (birth weight has doubled)
• Shows interest in food
• Can close mouth around a spoon
• Can move food from front to back of mouth
• Can move tongue back and forth, but is losing tendency to push food out with tongue
• Seems hungry after 8 to 10 feedings of breast milk or 40 oz. of formula in a day
• Is teething
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula, PLUS
• Semi-liquid iron-fortified rice cereal, THEN

You can feed your baby any brand of cereal as long as it is specifically designed for infants. Personally, I used Beechnut rice cereal when my son was a baby. The type of formula your baby drinks does not have any impact on the type of cereal you should feed him.

I don't think that it really matters what cereal you give them. My son hates the taste of formula in his cereal. I just mix it with water when I spoon feed him. Are you talking about putting it in his bottle. I tried this, but my son started choking on it, so be really careful if you do this. I would recommend giving it to your baby with a spoon.

I feed my baby Oatmeal by Gerber. But this does not coincide with the formula I feed my daughters.
You can feed your baby rice or oatmeal cereal. See what cereal your baby can tolerate.
Hope this has helped you.

You can use any brand but you should always start with Rice Cereal. I use the Gerber brand. That's just a personal choice but it really doesn't matter.

I dont see what difference the type of formula makes? We used Gerber infant rice or oatmeal and also used that formula.

It doesn't matter. I used Beech Nut because that's what I could get on WIC.
