his wife emily.
In what was undeniably the BEST idea ever in television history, Bob Newhart's Button Down Mind came up with the idea of ending "Newhart's" long run with the idea that it never existed.
The final scene opened up in his darkened bedroom in Chicago from 'The Bob Newhart Show' and Bob stating that he had just experienced a terrible dream.
It was totally unexpected but I realized immediately upon seeing the bedspread where he was. GREAT WORK BOB.

Suzanne Pleshette who played his wife Emily in the earlier series. This made the entire run of Newhart a dream. It was brilliant.

This is one of the best endings of any show ever on television. It got closer and closer to the end of the half hour, and everyone was wondering if Bob getting killed by the golf ball was the "big deal" TV Guide had promoted. The guest appearance was made by Suzanne Pleshette in her role as Emily Hartley. I will never forget this.
"There were these three woodsmen....and, I remember...sweaters." Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.

The beautiful Suzanne Pleshette. Unfortunately her voice was a little "Lucille Ball" like from smoking..
