My husband and I have a card night every weekend on Saturday. We have some friends come over and every card night we play a lot of games but then we play them all and we need some new ideas. We play Blind Baseball, Queens and what Follows, Five Card Draw, Seven Card Stud, Texas Hold Em', 2 Card Guts, Herbie, In Between, and a couple more I can't think of. If you have any ideas or links please provide them!

Thank you but we play rummy too! Not to bet on, but we need games where about 6 people can play and we play for money. So we need to bet too.

The house favorite among my family is 7 card rummy. What you need to do is get a sequence of 3 or more cards of the same suit and lay them down. The first person out of cards wins.

Each player is given 7 cards. The rest of the deck is laid down in the middle, with a card laying face up. The player draws a card from the deck. If it completes a series, he lays that down. If the card goes with a series someone else has laying down, he has the option of 'laying' his card down on that. Then he discards a card on the one that is laying face up in the middle- but make sure you can see what the cards are. If you see a face-up card laying out, the player has the option of taking that instead- but he has to take all the cards laying on top too.

There are several ways of scoring. The most common one is to have number cards count as 5 points, 10 and face cards count as 10 points, and the aces are 15 points.

Looking back, I see my explanation is a bit jumbled. But I hope it's good enough for you to play!

Play blackjack, but with a twist....

Everyone is given a special chip at the start of the game. This chip allows you to discard one of the two cards first given to you at the start and the dealer draws another card to replace the one discarded but it can only be used at the beginning of your hand when it's your turn to choose to hit/stay/double down/etc...

Another idea is to put the two jokers in the deck. Consider these jokers as Elimination Cards where if someone gets it, it signals that at the end of the next hand whoever has the lowest chip count, is automatically eliminated from play. Of course upon receiving this card, the dealer takes it back and issues a new card to the one who received it. (note: receiving the Elimination Card does nothing specifically to the one who receives it. It just notifies everyone that the next round eliminates the lowest chip count).
