I just go by what people tell me.
Except my mother-in-law. I don't like her.

Does anyone in US politics/gov't. really know what they're talking about or tell the truth about anything? Your chances of finding out the truth on this blog or from US politicans or the media I'd say are about even. I find that reading books is the best way to find the truth because you can look up the references and find the facts but most Americans don't read books, becasue they just don't have time, which is why people rarely find out the truth even from the evening or cable news.

I like to research things I hear, especially political campaigns. I use www.thomas.loc.gov to see what the issue was. 9 times out of 10, the commercial lied. There are somethings I go by if I hear it on NPR. I tend to trust MSNBC, but not FOX or CNN and definately not Drudge Report. I could probably do more to find out things for myself, but there are only so many hours in a day.

Not sure what you are relating this question to as you are not specific but I always check both sides of a story and usually have the facts to back up the debate at hand.No one thinks for me but myself however when others disagree with ones view then the name calling comes around instead of factual basis.Only time I resort to the name calling is when I hear those denegrating our military or their families. That really pisses me off.

Myself, I think I know the majority of what I am talking about. I've gotten myself into too much trouble going by what people tell me, so I stopped listening to most of it. Everyone else, I think they have their opinions, but I think it's mainly what people tell them, now granted, some people might know what their auctally talking about, but as i've found out, it's few and far between. I hope this helps.

I never listen to people's words. I watch their actions. I don't trust talking heads because they all have an agenda. I try to get facts from independent sources and make decisions on them. I don't let people spoon-feed me my opinions. The level of dishonesty on both sides appals me.

I do my own research and form opinions based on facts.
But there are also non-fact based opinions one forms based on observed behaviors, understanding motives, MO's, etc.
So, no I don't go by what everyone tells me. I think for myself.

I never think for myself. I do not read books nor news papers. I do not discuss the issues with other people. I wake up in them morning and wait for somebody to tell me what to think. If nobody tell me what to think, my mind just remains blank all day. Is that okay with you?

I know what I'm talking about ... it's just that nobody else knows what I'm talking about. Goddamn public education system!
