Unfortunately, the answer to your query (which seems sincere) is neither simple nor cut-and-dry. I wish I could say that it is. But, alas, it is not.
The "best" method to a guy's heart, really, completely and totally depends on the guy. Though stereotypes exist for a reason, they are exactly that and often times fall short of the mark when applied to real life. I cannot begin to even say "this will work with most guys" or anything even close.
Instead, to essay ourselves to something that could be considered a reasonably reliable answer to your query we have to diversify our perspective and look at the situation from the purely human angle.
What's the best way to win over any person, really, is the crux of the question at hand. (Here's where we actually get to the answer). For the most part, on a genetic level guys want two things. To be respected by other men and admired by women. As caveman-esque as that sounds it's basically true. However, in today's modern society this does not run across the board as a universal.
Communication is always a good foundation and starting point. When you talk to the male, make eye contact. Let him know, when he's speaking, that you're actually interested in what he has to say. If you're not interested, don't PRETEND to be interested. That's insulting. Instead gently turn the topic of conversation in another direction.
Let him know that you're interested in his company for more than just one reason (whatever that primary reason may be). Though it may not seem like it, men (on the general average) hate to feel used. But, then again, that's a human condition. Nobody likes to feel used.
The fastest way that anyone can be "won over" is by making that person feel worthwhile, needed and wanted. That's all anybody really wants deep down inside anyway. When you're chasing a potential mate be open, be warm, be kind, be caring, but most of all make it clear that you intend, given the chance, to cherish them as a human being and a person. I guess a short answer there is "Be Real." No fake crap.
