Remember last week I asked about Disk Warrior and retrieving data that's lost. I went to Apple today. They weren't able to retrieve it. Since my Appleworks is old, they think there's a glitch in the system that caused it to happen, which shouldn't have happened. So I have to use another WP software and saved everything on my EDD in the meantime. I have to rewrite what's lost starting tomorrow. What do you recommend for a WP software for Mac? Text Edit which I have and free? Iworks that cost $80? Microsoft Office which cost $180? Any recommendations for this or any other WP software programs for Macintosh.

Text Edit isn't bad. It does all of your basic text editing quite easily. iWork is pretty good for word processing. It's probably the easiest to use out of the bunch. Don't go with Microsoft Office, it's a waste of money. Here's another solution which hasn't been presented to you: OpenOffice. It's open source, meaning it's free. From what I've heard, it's just as good as Microsoft Office or better. Here's a link to the download page for a version of OpenOffice that is native to Mac OS X:

You don't need Linux. Don't listen to him.

I have MS Office on my Mac and I HATE MS Word. Isn't it possible to install an updated Appleworks? Or scrub and re-install your original Appleworks?

My condolences. Don't know what I'd do w/out my Appleworks! Hope you can figure something out!

Sorry; I wasn't here last week. But here's what I can tell you. "Linux" is an operating system that you can install on a MAC and once you install this operating system, you can install MicrosoftOffice. You might also want to check out the following link about another OS called "Fedora Core" (fed-DOR-uh-COR-uh)
