Ditto on the green tea! There is a brand called Celestial Seasonings, that makes a wellness tea. It contains zinc, vitamin c and echinacia. It can be hard to find, but I get it at Krogers. It will cut your recovery time in half! Use peppermint or wintergreen for congestion. Yes, garlic and honey will also help. They all boost your immune system.

There is a tea called Pau D'Arco, which is African tree bark - make that with organic honey. Couple of steaming mugs of that will make you feel better.
Pau D'Arco is from South America it is used externally and orally. It has a woodsy taste but my daughter who drinks no tea likes enough with honey to drink it.
Also I like vicks vabor rug on chest and back with a towel across it. Plenty of fluids (water and tea, little juice) to flush out the system and the cold along with it and rest.
Then there is also laying on the couch watching movies and eating your favorite cookies for moral support.

Try a generic cold medicine that says it relieves the symptoms you have. My favorite is the Dollar General cold medicine. I think that works the best!
