Only played paintball once and got hit many times. The only real shot that got me flustered was one that hit me in the mouthpiece of the visor. It means you get a mouthful of paint and when getting hit in the face it certainly makes you reel backwards.
Leg shots meant nothing.

Shooting someone in the legs will not cause them to fallover but shooting them in the bollocks definately will. I can testify to that and a shot to the top of the ear is good as well.

Chest shots always give the largest target. I've never seen a paint ball to the legs cause a fall..unless your playing with wimps.

Think about it, a ball the size of a large marble being able to topple a human? Heck No. They might trip if it was painful enough but the force of the ball alone, no.

the paint balls aren't that strong so aim for their hands since there exposed with no clothes to cushion the blow
