Do learn the language before you go there.

Don't ever pay the asking price, it's worth about 25% of what they ask if they know you aren't Egyptian.

Hi, first of all forget about all the B.S about not going, language, terrorism etc. I first went to Egypt in 96 and i visit at least once a year ever since then. It is an incredible country with tons of stuff to do and see, there is no boring moment.

English is widely spoken, u will not having any communication related problem.

Egypt is very safe, I never had a problem and never heard of anyone who was attacked, mugged or anything. It is a lot safer than back at home. I walk the streets at 3am and I feel very safe, so no worries on that front.

Make sure you agree a price before u purchase anything, there is always room for negotiations.

Go to sharm el sheikh, if u r a party animal who love diving, sea and sun.

Take a nile cruise if you are more interested in the ancient civlization, the trip is beyond awesome.

Respect the local culture, do not dress in hot shorts and tight tops. Apart from that it is ok, your regular outfits are fine, do not feel like u must wear a veil or long dresses, just do not go around semi naked.

Plan your trip with a travel agency, do not do it on your own, they know better and will tailor a package based on your needs and budgets.

hi first of all welcome in Egypt , i am Egyptian and i will be glad to help u.
first don't ever leave Egypt before visiting sharm ELshaikh or consider your self that u didnt come to Egypt.
second there are a lot of places to visit, it actually depends on the time u will stay in Egypt like:

in Cairo of course don't miss to visit the ( pyramids-sphinx- Egyptian museum-and of course the river having at least a meal on the river Nile ) and for shopping u can visit ( khan elkhalely - elmosky) but usually don't pay what u r asked to pay at least reduce the price to the half and if u r a good buyer u can take it with as it was said before 25% of its value but this is not always.
that was about Cairo where i live , about sharm elsheikh it is called ( the Italian city in Egypt ), hurghada ,Aswan elgona & el oksor u better deal with travel agenciesbecause all what i know there are friends but i cant give useful and complete info about this places. but remember also do not leave without ( riding camels under the pyramids (cairo)- snorkeling in the red sea (sharm& hurghada) - visit aswan & el oksor (the old pharonic villages) ). i also want to add that all what DR FOZIO had said is absoluetly true .

if u want any additional info or have any inquire i will be glad to help at besbez85@yahoo.com.

good luck & enjoy ur time

Definitely learn how to say "no thanks," make sure to have lots of small bills since getting change is tough and also, bring a polaroid camera....Lots of Egyptian schoolchildren are also on holiday visiting the major sights in Cairo and Alexandria and love to practice their English with foreigners. They always want for you to take a picture of yourself with them, and it's nice if you can take a picuture and give it to them on the spot.

Don't drink the water in Cairo....seriously.
