Jump on the Red Line East. It stops at all the terminals and goes right to the corner of University & Mill (the ASU area), then goes South on Mill then East on Apache so if your friend is closer to Rural you can get off at Apache & Rural. See if your friend can met you at one of those locations. There is a Jack in the Box right up the corner from Univ & Mill that would be an easy meeting place. Look at the terminal for signs pointing to pu blic bus pickup areas (I think they are usually on the baggage level) or ask at the info kiosks.

Note: A cab from the airport to the university will be At Least $20, the bus goes straight there for $2.

Are you talking about Arizona State University (ASU) or the University of Arizona (U of A)? ASU is the number 1 party school.

To cut the story short: take the Red Line bus service from the airport to get the ASU.

Take a cab, as it will only be 10 bucks and it will save you an hour of travel time. The busses here suck.
