People may find it hard to believe, but often times there are waiting lists of people wanting to adopt children with Down syndrome in this country. And why not?? Our little angels are wonderful and enhance our lives in so many ways.

I suggest you take a look at

You might want to also visit http://www.downsyn.com
If you go to the forum and do a search, you should find several families who have adopted one or more children with Down syndrome.

There are lots of kids with DS from other parts of the world who really need the kind of love and patience you are willing to give. My husband and I have a son with DS and have thought about adopting a child with DS if we are unable to have any more children of our own. The experience has been so rewarding.

Good luck!

Bless you!!!!! there are so many out there that are not wanted due to that, which also makes them less likely to be adopted. I don't know how much you know about Downs syndrom but i reccomend reading everything you can on it.i went to school with them my junior and senior years because they was mainstreamed into public schools, then i worked with them in a company that gave handicapped people jobs(i was a supervisor)
i know they tend to be very loving and enjoy everything as small children would even in their 40's
I would talk to as many people as you can find that either had a down syndrom child or had adopted one.It will probably be much harder to adopt one due to their unique needs. talk to several adoption agency's and social services to find out what exactly you need to do.
Once again Bless you

Are you serious? If not, then your an ***, if you are serious you've got a lifelong journey ahead of you. Talk to your local child welfare agency they would be your starting point.

I did not mean to be ignorant. We all know people post questions that are not sincere. I have 2 adopted children with differing mild disabilities, and i hoped that if you were serious you would understand my comment. Sorry.

Do you truly understand the challenges of raising a child with a Disability -- whether it is Autism or Down's Syndrome or any other condition?
