There are many types of glue, and I know of no one solvent that will take care of all of them. I have had more luck with "acetone" than I have had with any other solvent when it comes to removing glues and adhesives and their related residues. Acetone will not damage glass, but it will damage plastic and other materials including paint. A quart of acetone will cost you under $5.00 at any hardware, paint, or home improvement store. Also available at many general merchandise, drug, and grocery stores in either their paint or household goods departments.

Acetone should be used in a well ventilated area and avoid contact with your skin. Do not use around open flames since fumes are combustible.

Other solvents you can try are lacquer thinner or mineral spirits.

Good luck with your glue problem.

It may not be a glue mark. It might be a mark in the glass itself from contact with the hot lead. If this is the case it won't come out.
