Make the t-shirt look like a sports jersey. You could make the number on the back (and/or front) "6.02 x 10^(23)." You could make the name on the back "Avogadro." Where the team logo would usually go (top of the front), you could put a picture of a mole.

I happen to be a fashion designer turned chem student...go figure. If I was you I'd think of the least time consuming eye catching theme that you can do well.

Perhaps make a molecule with hydrogen and oxygen atoms or a more complicated molecule with various pieces of scrap fabric, hand sew with embroidery floss, fused 6.02 X 10 23...put the word Avagadro on the back...cut off the sleeves, cut one shoulder...the possibilities are endless.

T-shirt reconstruction (don't laugh) is an art and good niche business for some if done well ;)

Go to a crafts store and they have a fusable craft paper for fabric...just cut it out and use your iron...may not even have to sew it down for a one day event.

Glue sequins in your molecule...

Hope that helped because I have a lot of homework to do!

Good Luck.

Draw a pin head and put draw dozens & dozens of little devils (or avogadros) falling towards the pin head.
The put a phrase something like How many devils make a mole, or a mole of evil, etc., or how many avogadros in a pin head.

I can't believe I am responding to this question.

The theme for 2006 is Mole Madness. Maybe you can work around that idea to create some sort of image.

I know it sounds obvious, but how about a mole in a lab coat and glasses (with tape on the bridge across the nose of course), perhaps holding a flask?

Avogadro himself was a pretty mad scientist. Look him up.
