My laptop screen won't come on. Any ideas without having to send it off to get repaired?

Can you see anything on the screen? Laptops have a switch or button just below the screen or inside the hinge that will turn on the back light for the laptop. If this switch is stuck you just need to unstick it. Other wise your back light is out. take a flash light and see if you can see anything on the screen. If so check for your switch.
