Do the following and see the website below:

1. Having adequate fluid intake, especially water.
2. Not resisting the urge to urinate.
3. Taking showers, not baths, or urinating soon after taking a bath.
4. Practice good hygiene, including wiping from the front to the back to avoid contamination of the urinary tract by faecal pathogens.
5. Cleaning the urethral meatus (the opening of the urethra) after intercourse has been shown to be of some benefit; however, whether this is done with an antiseptic or a placebo ointment (an ointment containing no active ingredient) does not appear to matter.[1]
6. Cleaning genital areas prior to and after sexual intercourse.
7. For sexually active women, and to a lesser extent men, urinating within 15 minutes of sexual intercourse to allow the flow of urine to expel the bacteria before specialized extensions anchor the bacteria to the walls of the urethra.
8. It has been advocated that cranberry juice can decrease the incidence of UTI. A specific type of tannin found only in cranberries and blueberries prevents the adherence of certain pathogens (eg. E. coli) to the epithelium of the urinary bladder (studies referenced in External Links section)

i have really weak kidneys and can tell you from experience that recurring uti's usually are just from drinking too much soda and having a diet that doesn't fulfill the vitamin intake your body needs. i have had very very very many uti's over the last 3 years and it has always happened when i stop drinking as much water and start drinking more sodas. i have to start eating better and drink more water and gatorade(for the electrolytes) to get better. i don't even bother going to the doctor anymore because i know what i'm doing wrong. just drink more water to flush it out and try to keep up a good diet and drink as much water as possible.

UTI 's are usually caused by bacteria traveling back inside your urethra. this bacteria can be caused by many things.
*wipe yourself front to back
* urinate right after any sexual acts involving your vagina
* urinate often even when u don't feel u need to
* drink 100% cranberry juice

the main health risk with UTI's is it can infect your Kidneys and become a serious health issue.

Not going pee after sex.
No wiping correctly after going #2.
Not being prescribed the right antibiotic at the right strength - so the infect only lessens, and does not totally resolve. You need a short course of a strong antibiotic.

no baths only showers, cranberry juice, cotton underwear, no douches,no perfume in that area, sleep without undies, condoms can cause it, the way you sit to go to the bathroom if your not voiding all of it, body wash is a no no! change your clothes right after swimming and anything that makes you sweat really bad,no tight clothes.. That should help

Rough sex, or poor personal hygiene can cause frequent UTI's, but if they are happening frequently, they you should see a doctor fairly soon for further investigations into why it is happening.
