No. People catch colds from viruses, not weather. This is a common myth. The reason we tend to get more sick in the winter, or when it is cold, is because more people are spending time indoors, making you more susceptible to catching a virus that someone else has. So, you can walk barefoot, in the rain, in cold weather, with wet hair in the North Pole if you'd like. :0)

Malnourishment and exposure to cold weather or rain do NOT cause a cold.

The common cold is an acute viral infection of the upper respiratory tract that affects the nose, throat, sinuses, larynx, and sometimes the lungs. Varieties of rhinovirus and coronavirus are the most common causes. These viruses are easily transmitted through contact with the secretions of infected people (e.g., handshakes, shared objects, kissing). Once the virus enters the body, it multiplies in the cells (often at the back of the nose) and causes an inflammatory response that produces characteristic symptoms such as excessive mucus (probably in an attempt to rid the body of the virus) and swollen airways.
The common cold is transmitted through person-to-person contact, typically when an infected person touches the eyes, mouth, or inside of the nose and spreads the virus to the hands. Poor hygiene promotes infection. Kissing and sharing eating utensils with an infected person are common modes of transmission.

Malnourishment and exposure to cold weather or rain do NOT cause a cold.

That is an old wives tale. People get sick from viruses, not from being out in the cold. But if you are susceptible to getting sick, walking in the cold does not help your immune system. People get sick more often in the winter because there are more people congregating in doors.

No ! No ! No! YOU WILL NOT !!!
O.M.G. if I had a penny for every time I have debated this with someone I would be rich. There is no way for your body to spontaneously produce a virus where one does not exist. Nor can you contract the virus from just being wet or cold... Being "sick" implies have a virus, bacteria, etc... YOU CAN NOT CATCH THESE FROM BEING WET OR COLD.... YOU MUST COME INTO CONTACT WITH THEM FROM A SOURCE !!!!
I only yell that for the people who are going to reply yes to your question... And be aware that I will be returning often to read and see all the dorks out there who believe you can... Good luck and God's Speed...

this is an old wives tale, in general its not good to expose your ears or wet hair in the cold but overall health and your immune system will determine when you are exposed to a cold or any other virus and whether or not the virus can overcome your immune system

No. It's been proven that exposure to cold regardless of dress does not increase the likelyhood that you will become sick.

It won't be the cause of your cold, but it will strain your immunity system and if there are any germs around you'll be more susceptible.
