How do you think they got that skinny in the first place??? These models you speak of, they've probably been dieting (or STARVING) for years. They continue NOT to eat to maintain their skeletal figure...
But these other folks are right--not a good image to be selling to young girls. Skinny does NOT always equal beautiful...
Tracy below does have a point. Some folks ARE naturally skinny. And most people are jealous of that fact. I know I am...I have to work hard to stay in shape. Sucks. But you're right, we shouldn't assume all are unhealthy...

Being a model has nothing to do with being attractive, skinny, fat, big titted or otherwise. Models are puppets to whoever the hell wants to hire them. They fit a certain look or style that a company is going for and then they're hired based on this. Most people here are stereotyping actresses and fashion models, and it is true that "skinny" is the way to be most times. And yes, most of them have drug problems, but that has to do with fame and the circles they hang with more than the "model" aspect. And btw, people who starve themselves to stay skinny when they're already skinny are anorexics...they just throw the word model in there to make you think that those ribs sticking out of their dresses are healthy.

Not all models don't eat or do cocaine - honestly it is hard being a "skinny" person too as everyone assumes that you starve yourself or on some kind of drugs or doing somthing else unhealthy to stay that slim... ever thought that just being fit and active is somthing that will actually keep you skinny....
It is so frustrating when people ALWAYS assume that just because you are skinny that you are doing drugs or somthing else - how fair is that

i believe that having really skinny models is kind of manipulative. they are wearing the new, trendy fashions and are called beautiful, so girls start to believe that they can't wear the fashions and be beautiful unless they look like models, which totally isn't true. some starve themselves, some do drugs, yes, but also i've known people in my life that are skinny and just can't do anything about it, no matter how much they eat. there are plus size models and that's great, but it's also telling women that we come in two sizes plus sizes or super skinny. that's just not fair. i think there should be models of every size.

I'm a model but I'm only 13, so I'm not into that you have to be the skinniest person in the world stuff. i don't do drugs. i will agree that some of the older models are a bit crazy. but i am just like any other teenage girl.

What do I think about models?
Shame that Airfix went to the wall !
Seriously I prefer my women with a little more flesh than appears to be the fashion these days...........eg. Sophie Dahl before she lost loads of weight, Elle McPherson is pretty gorgeous too. But Kate Moss........yuck.

It's a psychotic business. These skinny ones obviously don't live like most people.

Bad influence on the younger generation of women who are growing up believing that in order to be accepted they have to weigh in at 75 lbs.

Aren't there fat models too? I heard they use them to model for plus size clothes in stores. Not all models are waifs. Try not to generalize and stereotype.
