This is a question that I've asked myself for years. I know people that swear by colonics. I know Dr. Andrew Weil put it down at his website and said that people do it for some sexual kick.

I do herbal cleanses. I started years ago taking some stuff from The Awareness Corporation and I was shocked at how much I could poop in 24 hours! It got things moving but didn't cause the runs. I just went more often. Supposedly, the special blend of herbs and fiber would "sweep out" your colon.

I have 2 friends doing colonics right now with a local colonic therapist. The equipment is disposable so you know that you're not sticking something in you that's been in someone else. They are very happy with the results.

I still periodically use herbal products to clean out. They're cheaper than a series of colonics... but, on the other hand, my friends swear that nothing beats doing the series of colonics.

I have friends that swear by colonics, as well; they are safe and effective. However, I prefer the herbal cleanses. They're safe, effective, and private.

Does it really "work"? Well, what "effect" are you expecting??
Your body (colon) does not NEED cleansing - your colon does a fine job "cleansing" itself without any help. Tales of stuff "building up" in your colon are simply false and have no relation to reality.

Is it safe? NO. Period. Plain and simple.

Like everything else... It depends on where you go and what you spend.

If you can mentally deal with it and put aside the fact that you actually have a hose up your as*s... It is VERY good for you!
