All he ever seems to do for England is slow the play down, play **** passes and have shoots that go no where near the goal!! Why is it that he can be prefered to Steven Gerrard!

I think the managers likes him because he is meant to be the leader of the attacking team from midfield alongside Gerrard and when he misses all those shots they probably think he is doing for the team. I don't know why they prefer him to Gerrard though. P.S hope this helps

Because he WAS now he is struggling to find the top form that the managers bigged him up for. Believe me he is better than some of the other midfielders out there like Stewart Downing. What annoys me is the hype around Wayne Rooney he hasn't got a record near as Micheal Owen, when Micheal Owen was his age, I can't understand why he still is number 1 choice for striker when he ain't even properly fit, from what I know there are other strikers that can his position until he is PROPERLY ready. There is so much more hype around other players and it will take me forever to give you every name from the top of my head.

its a joke.. lampard preferred to gerrard?? if so.. the managers are senseless idiots.. lampard is chosen because he plays for chelsea.. if everytime he has to be praised so that his fans disagree and he will rise, i say why not play lampard as the captain..then the fans will make a huge protest and our delicate darling will rise to the cause..gerrard cannot even be compared to lampard.. in the match against mac,he was the only threat.. let chelsea lose the prem (oops..when they realize they cannot buy it that year),then lets see hu all come in praise of lampard.. the players are confident of their place in the team so why bother kicking the ball to the net.. $90,000 pw in the pocket and the ball sumwhere close to the net is fine with them so who are we to argue..

Those who think so either have forgotten to visit an optician recently or they don't know that they are blind. How can a person who has made more than 100 shorts towards the goal since worldcup only score two goals yet his role in the English team is not goal scoring but rather creating chances? How many assists has he made since worldcup?.... they can't be many since England hasn't scored many either.

Because chelski bought the premiership, England have to include their only english player. If I was sat on the bench for chelski I would have been picked and I'm 18 stone and can run for about 30 seconds.

Because he has played great for club football in the past. He just isn't on form at the moment - I think he should be on the bench right now but they always seem to play the top players even when they are playing c**p 'just in case' they recover form and play well. Bit daft if you ask me.

They don't they are just trying to 'big him up' to encourage him to strive to play for a high standard. Because everytime they say this the fans disagree so that will create an image he will want to live up for thus make him train and try harder.
