well you might be right that they put a lot of hype into sports and stuff like that but thats the american mentality and i wish they would do more of that up here in canada....sports are useful.....keep you fit and teaches you life lessons.......true the media is a big influence and it over hypes sports why not.....its fun to watch and a lot of people enjoy it........can you imagine how many more criminals there would be venting there anger towards the world if there wasnt contact sports.....more assault i can guarentee you that.......................and about the T.O. thing i know a lot of you get tired of him and i respect your opinion but i still like him and just ignore him because he doesnt represent what football is all about....theres more than him.................and maya you might be right about football players being overpaid but trust me they do a lot of work.......there not always around there families........there always in the gym.....there always on the field practicing and they put a lot and a lot of effort into getting to the nfl....trust me its more than throwing or catching then running and tackling with the ball on sundays.....they have meetings and it just goes on and on especially with the mini camps.......but there isnt as much passion for the game any more....its more about the money

Huge NFL fan. Best pro sport bar none. In what way do you see it as over-rated? The game itself is in no way over-rated. It is the ultimate team sport in the world. If you are saying that all the hype towards certain players (i.e. TO) then I would agree. I think the sports media tends to drag things of that nature on and on. Let players like TO have their say and then move on. I also got very tired of hearing the same story day after day for the entire week leading up to the Sunday game. It didn't seem like the other players and coaches were putting much stock in it but still the media wouldn't give it up.

It's not the game...it's the media hype. I'm so with you on the whole T.O. thing. Football-not over rated, Media Football coverage- way over rated. More about the game and less about the players...more about the team strategy, and less "personal" stories.

NFL network, 24/7 football coverage, too much...

Sorry, I disagree. It's totally not over rated and may be the most perfect sport there is (college and pro)! I am actually bummed at the end of footbal season. I agree abut the TO thing though. I'm from Philly and we were glad to get rid of him and his antics and return to watching the game of football without all the drama. He is a great player -too bad he just can't be seen and not heard.

I think professional football is way, WAY over rated. It's all about the money anymore. There is a lack of pride and a definite lack of respect in a lot of the players.

I still watch it, though. And what's more the Detroit Lions are my favorite team. Am I sick, or what?

Go college baby!!! I don't watch pro anything anymore. I used to be a huge Miami Dolphins fan back in the day, I couldn't even tell you who their coach is today. College sports kicks the pants of any pro sport. There is nothing like watching a game where the players truly have their hearts in the game and want to win, instead of just being in it for the money. Pro sports in general make me want to hurl anymore.

I love football, but I am tired of "T.O.", too. Don't let that idiot make you dislike football!

I don't care for pro football because there are too many divas but college football is the best.
