there are no spyware or viruses and i just defragged the hard drive
the are no programs that i dont use i have removed all the stuff idont use. i only have 512 meg of memory . would more memory help the speed?

More memory would help the speed but you may need more hard drive space and/or a faster CPU.

More memory can usually help. Try the site below to see if you can add more, and what you can get. If the computer is old, it may be better in the long run to get a new machine rather than keep updating an old one.

drop your color depth to 16 bit if its on 32 ( less work its doing=it goes faster) and you probably won't notice the diff

remove some fonts. ( they suck it up)

don't use your virus scanner unless you are online, they slow computer down. (spyware too) cause you are only gonna get those while oneline.....

( so if you are gaming, turn it off, and it will run better, of course, not your online games)

More memory, upgrade the CPU, or the cheaper option buy a new computer
