i always see answers saying that HP is an "annoying kid who is reckless, makes bad decisions, etc etc"...but i feel like most of the time his Gut Instinct is correct, and no one else believes him til it comes true! the only case i can really recall is when he thought Sirius was in the Dept of Mysteries, but that's hardly his "fault", and you can't deny that Voldemort and his followers were in the position to do some serious damage anyways..... can you jog my memory, and come up with any Solid proof that he's "always wrong"??

Well he's not always wrong - as a matter of fact a lot of the times he's right. What is important here is that they show Harry Potter being a normal boy who has a gift. Boys can be reckless sometimes and these books show that being reckless can sometimes get you in trouble. He doesn't always obey the rules, but he has adults who care about him and want him to learn as much as possible. He gets in trouble for breaking the rules but he's also told thank you when he's right.
Breaking rules and going on your gut instinct can get you in trouble and it can also keep you out of trouble. When a young person starts to get older they learn how to really listen to their gut instinct and that can really help them in life.
He's not always right and he's not always wrong, but he learns from his mistakes. That's what is most important.

the best place to find answers regarding HP, that i have found is www.mugglenet.com, there is a potter lexicon (encyclopedia) online, but cant remember the website.
Anyway, no Harry is most often right. If i remember correctly, the thought of Sirius being at the Dept of Mysteries was planted by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. (just reading hp,ootp again)

Harry is hardly "always wrong" but in book 5 he is really annoying. My mother-in-law says he is just being a typical teenager (with hormones) but he is not pleasant.
Plus he has been horrible to his Aunt and Uncle. Yes he lived under the stairs for all those years, but they did take him in and there is no appreciation for the risk they took in taking him.

I think Harry's right 9 times out of 10. It's very true that no one will believe him until it's too late. I don't think he's annoying or reckless. :)

I have read all six books mutiple times. Voldemort is the only one who is underestimating Harry's powers. He would not be a Griffindor if he was always wrong

ok in book one he did'nt mess up that much.
in book two none.
in three he droped his invisibility cloak so snape could get it and mess things up for sirius.
in four he took that stupid mermaid song seriously, he asked cedric to take the cup with him (why couldn't he have taken it himself ; cedric would not be dead if he did).
in five was his biggest mistake he didn't take occlumency seriously.
in six he made dumbledore fell bad before he died.

you have to admit that Hary is very boneheaded and he always breaks rules without having the slightest guilt!
