Where are the stains? Countertops? outside on concrete? carpet? Wood floors? A little more information would be VERY helpful.

Hi
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water on he spot and vacuum it up at the same time to remove the residue. If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do it a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner. What I have suggested will not lock the stain in.

Okay, you can use spot shot, that works well, you can also use Thunder Blast it's a cleaning product for most household uses, it got mud, ground in dirt and koolaid and blood out of my carpet, just spray on a generous amount and let set for about 10 minutes, if the stains are really bad, you may have to do them twice. The oxy clean the other lady is talking about here, may take the color out of your carpet. You can buy Thunder Blast at dollar stores or Walmart.

Black stains from ashtrays? Do you mean ashes? If it's ashes, you can try oxy-clean,that stuff even gets out blood stains. Good luck.

try oxi-clean or a cleaner for motor engines, this WILL remove the stains but may leave a little brown spot this is a burn and i don't know how to get that out.

I would try a mix of baking soda and vinegar, should be safe for all surfaces.
