i need to know if there is a possibility that a side effect of this birth control is making me skip a period even though i haven't missed one so far on the patch yet. i feel like i should be on my period, but nothing is happening, it was late last month, it should've started on sunday but didn't until tuesday night, and it is now wednesday when it should've started on sunday and i'm really concerned.

Yes it can make you skip. Just the same as it can make you bleed for an abnormally long period of time. Don't forget what birth control REALLY is. It tricks your body into thinking its alreay pregnant (you can't get pregnent if you are already). So your body starts to act that way depending on how it reacts to the birth control. that is a side effect with most pills. it's called a silent period, which is ironic because while on the pill you don't really get a period. It is just your lining of the cervice that is realeased.

do some reasearch. I think you would be very surprised of the side effects of the patch. There was something big about it onthe news but I wasn't on the patch so I didn't pay too much attention to it.

I use NuvaRing and it 's new, but I really like it. very low hormones

I've been on it for 5 months. I've read up on it, and from what I know, there will be a skipped period every once in a while. I don't start my period until Wednesday after I take it off on Sunday. It's normal. I thought the same thing too. But it's completely normal. =]

I was on the patch for 3 years. It did that to my cycle too but not that drastic. it happened over time, at the end of my use of the patch, i was down to only getting my period for 3 days.

You might want to go to the ORTHO EVRA website. I think that they were having some concerns about the patch. I used to be on it but stopped and am now back on the regular BCP. I miss that patch tho it was alot better than popping pills every day.

You should talk to the doctor who prescribed the patch to you but it could take several months for your cycle to straighten out because of the hormones in the patch.
