what free email is compatable with outlook express

You can try GMAIL. It is free and compatible with outlook too.

None to my knowledge. Sometimes you can get luck and hot mail will let Outlook Express retrieve your E-mail. But it's not common. now in outlook you can set the option (My server requires Authentication) and you can (a lot of the time) get your E-mail from Hot mail. not sure if OE has that option.

yahoo, hotmail and also gmail, about the other small timers, you need to check with them;
JUst configure outlook exprees using guidelines in the help section of the email providers
