Chances are good you will never find a truly ugly person in a leading role. TV executives know that people sympathize with a character who is attractive on some level and this creates more viewers and more revenue for them. How well would a fat, crude, bald, greasy-faced, bad toothed person carry a show?

I think that's part of the plan. At some time she will not be "ugly" anymore. The thing is when that happens, the show will go downhill.

It's not you, it's the network - they wouldn't DARE to put any of the millions of actually ugly Americans on TV, for fear that people would change the channel. "Mustn't offend anyone by showing someone who appears normal and real" . . . and they wonder why so many girls have eating disorders.

I agree. They did a horrible job of making her ugly. Just like Velma on Scooby Doo.

She is hot and that super great personality of her makes me want her even more. Thought she was great in that movie "Real Women Have Curves" too.
