After 3 years of using the patch and having no issues, in March of this year I started having heart palpitations and chest pain (Mother In law passed away at the same time) After seeing my GP, he put me on beta-blockers(Toprol-50mg). I can never tell if they work or not, but I questioned my BC patch and he said this wasn't a side effect(even though the label states that it is) I gave it another shot with my OB/GYN and she blew me off saying BC didn't do these things. I stopped the BC patch altogether and feel 100% better, I also take Vit B and various other vitamins. Has anyone else had an experince similar to this? Would also like to hear from any doctors or nurses that may have some insight other than "see your DR". Thanks

I am aware of the news and controversy surrounding the patch. My GP didn't feel I was having these problems, but I couldn't ignore the fact that this started 2 1/2 years after being on the patch consistently. I would still like to hear if other women have had these very specific reactions to the patch. Am now on my 9th day not using the patch and feel better than I have in months. i have done alot of online research and finally turned to this forum to see if others had experienced the same things I have. I am going to take several months off of all BC and use more traditional methods. The main reason i went on BC was for rough periods. Pleas eanswer if you have any more insight. J

There are alot of side effects from the patch. I used it 2 years ago and had some heart problems caused by it. I ended up wearing a heart monitor. The doc. swore it wasn't the bc but as soon as I stoped taking it. I felt 100% better and I haven't had problems with my heart since.

I am no doctor but I have taken the patch and loved it. I actually stopped and went to the ring and regretted it, but going back to the question. There has been a lot of publicity about how the patch as too much estrogen in it and it causes blood clots to form. These blood clots then move all around your body which can stop blood flow in areas like your heart, brain, and legs. There are a lot of lawyers who now are taking clients because of the patch causing problems with their heart. It has caused some deaths in people who didn't get it taken care of.

I used the BC patch maybe 2 years ago, and stopped because I too was experienceing side effects. I just stopped taking them. I have heard and read and seen many things on the BC patch being effective.
