I keep asking myself why am I wasting my time being alive, wasting more time driving and going to work, wasting my time doing anything.

I ask myself everyday why am I alive, and I have a lot of anxiety, and I ask what is the meaning of this. Why do I have to waste time being alive. I hate going to College, I hate it. I hate being a freshman at 21.

There's no shame in being a freshman at 21. At least you're in school. Listen, get a therapist, start going to church, and most importantly, stop feeling sorry for yourself. No one will want to be around you with that attitude!

You're so young to be so dissatisfied with life, but actually I went through a similar kind of angst in my 20's...I think it's something you go through because you feel like you've got your education & your whole life ahead of you & what the heck do you do with it?! So many choices & you're not even sure what you want or who you are yet...this is normal. You are not alone.

There must be something that you enjoy, that makes you happy. Make that your focus. We all have drudgery in our lives (whether it's a job we hate or school or whatever routine fills your day that you don't have much choice about) but that isn't your whole life. When you are away from school or work your time is your own. So do what you love. Enjoy a hobby. Be with friends or loved ones. Think of how lucky you are to be alive. There is so much to see & do & enjoy. Life is only a waste if you waste it. Make the most of it! Do some soul-searching. Find yourself. Spend some time outdoors. Go for a long walk or hike & think. Get in touch with nature. Listen to music. Appreciate the beauty of life. Have fun! Get some exercise. The more the better. It usually calms anxiety & snaps you out of depression. Just force yourself to do it. It's good for you. Eat healthy too. If you're healthy on the outside it makes it harder for you to feel bad inside. (Sounds simplistic but works). And if you work out hard enough you'll be too exhausted to worry about anything!

Don't give up. You may be in a rut now, but one day something or someone may come along to knock your socks off & you're going to see how beautiful life can be.

Take care, kiddo. It gets better. Once I hit 30 yrs I was a billion times happier!

If you find that you don't enjoy anything & the feeling doesn't go away and that you feel unusually anxious most of the time you should speak to your doctor. It's possible you suffer from anxiety and/or clinical depression, if so, there are options available. You could see a counsellor or therapist to talk about your feelings. Also, write your feelings down. Writing is very therapeutic & a wonderful hobby. Who knows? You may write the next great american novel.

Good luck.

i know what you mean. its like we go to college just to acquire the skills we'll need later to go work so we can make enough money to stay warm and not starve. alot of us work in a bland cubicle for a horrible company that will use you to make a profit and once its beneficial, you'll get fired, where you will have to find another job that hopefully isn't as bad as the one before. most of us have this crappy path and i've thought about it many times.

it doesnt hurt to think that somehow someone else in another place is starving, would love to work, or works 20 hours a day to make 30 cents. or someone has lost everyone they love to some war or drunk driver. or that some others are in a desert somewhere with pieces of lead flying around really fast and sometimes they hit skin and flesh and kill someone who wished they had a desk job somewhere safe.

and when you make good friends, a good girl or guy to spend time with, and - this is important - find a great hobby, things don't necessary hold more meaning but life itself becomes more enjoyable.

have fun in college. hot girls are everywhere and you will probably never experience that again unless you are a rock star. college is for the most part the only years you can let yourself go wild and everyone around you is in the same mood.

Well without bringing religion into it, I personally think it's fun to plan out my life and work toward my goals. I'm a 21-year-old college student, too, and I also hate school, but I find diversion in imagining my life five years down the road when I have the job I want, the house I want, and (hopefully) the man I want.

I wake up everyday wondering the same thing. It's like I wake up and do the same thing everyday for what. What's the point of going through these meaningless tasks that make up our lifes? WHATS THE POINT!?! sorry i can't anser your question but here i'll try... Where part of a sick game of chess there no point of us being alive other than for the pure enjoyment and entertainment of others.

quit your whining!!!....My kids joined the military cause' I couldn't afford college!!...quit feeling sorry for yourself, and so dramatic....it is a very unattractive trait..and people don't want to hear that or be around people like that....you have anxiety, go see a doctor and get some anti-depressants...your 21, wait till you get to be 45 you think you got it hard now.....lots of people have it way harder than you do and would give anything to be able to go to college, but work at burger king instead!!!!!!

Life is what it is. It can always be worse. Feel free to keep complaining and you will just succeed in making the people around you miserable. Try finding the things in life that make you happy and focus on them.
