Rutgers is a University in New Jersey that was a College Football powerhouse back in the 60s and 70s but have not seen the AP Top 25 since the late 70s.
Which is a shame cause Jersey brings about solid football players, but they seem to always go out of state for school....probably cause it's Jersey.

They were actually involved in the first ever inter-collegiate football game against Princeton University on Nov 6, 1869.

They used to be solid, but have been a laughing stock recently until the last year or two. This season they have an easy early schedule which they've dominated, and have some solid players including Sophemore RB Ray Rice who rushed for 1,120 yards last season and has 604 already this year. They will have some tough games coming up against Louisville and West Virginia, but they may qualify for another minor bowl game this season, as they just barely lost one last season to Arizona State. Should have a pretty good team moving forward as long as more local talent sticks around NJ rather than leaving for the powerhouse schools out of state.

Getting better. It's been a looooonnnnnggg haul from where they were. They take out Navy this week and they should be in line for a bowl game. They still have to play Louisville and West Virginia, so I will reserve final judgement until after that. Just hope Schiano does not bail for the Miami job if it becomes available.

All I know is they are from New Jersey, are undefeated, and crushed my beloved Fighting Illini 33-0 this season.
