pour corn on the ground around it, I've never heard of a squirrel eating pumpkins, I know racoons eat them though.

Bird seed, it gives them something else to eat. A gun means catching the little brats in the yard. A trap will never work they just come back. So compromise with them and give them a tastier food, sunflower seeds are best.

are you sure you don't have some other varmit?
If the squirrels are choosing to eat pumpkin... them buggers are HUNGRY.. feed them nuts or sunflower seeds....
