The Dems are saying that Foley never should have gotten so close to the pages. It was wrong for him to be working with people so young. Not to mention the whole creepy older guy liking young boys thing.
So why can't we ban gays from being Scout Masters again?

I am not affiliated with any party and I'm not the one implying all gays are pedophiles- the dems are implying it!!!! Open your ears and listen to them. They are the ones preaching tolerence and then they attack descenters. Barb Streisand is the perfect example. Shoot off at the mouth and then preach tolerence i.e. the recent concert incident when she had a heckler during a skit about Bush and then told the guy to go F*ck himself. And since all they have on Foley are words in IM messages and emails and no actual molestations then why are they flying off the handle? If it's OK to have gay scout masters then why is it not OK to have gay congressmen? If Foley was known about for years why didn't they do something sooner than 6 weeks before the elections? THEY KNEW!!!! But in a private organization such as the boy scouts... aren't parents allowed to protect their children when they DON'T know? Seems hypocritical to me!

... It is a puzzle, isn't it. But the fact remains that the majority of gay people are not pedophiles, just as the majority of straights are not either...so we can't always do the right thing if the right thing infringes on people rights... There, that is perfectly clear.. right?

Great question....I think we should indeed ban gays from being Scout Masters.
In terms of the dems and Foley, just to state the obvious, democrats don't really care about Foley, or his actions (acceptable or not), and certainly not about anyone Foley may or may not have harmed. All the dems care about is regaining control of congress. Period. End of story. They must have had multiple orgasms when this story broke 6 weeks before elections....or more likely, they timed it that way.
P.S. No no no, it's not the case that only pedophiles should be banned from being Scout Masters. I agree of course that such pervs should be banned, but homosexuals shouldn't be in roles where they have influence over children, even if they're not pedophiles. Just like gays shouldn't teach, in a like manner they should not be involved in scouting. Just keep all gays away from all kids......
P.P.S. To respond to Elysia, heterosexual girls basketball coaches are ok because hetero == normal, homo == abnormal. Abnormal people should NOT be around our kids, letting their abnormality "rub off" on them. For the same reason, Elysia, gays should absolutely be banned from working in hospital pediatric wards. They should be banned from all contact with impressionable children.

Gays and child molesters are not the same thing. What does being a pedophile have to do with being gay? Why not keep Pedophiles away from children? You need to think before asking this question.

I don't think his sexual orientation was ever relevant to the Democratic parties statements about Foley. They'd be saying the same thing if those pages were female.
Our youth really need adult leaders who are mature, responsible, and have solid concepts of boundaries. Foley did not fit that model. Many gay men probably would.

you cant really ban gays as such from these activities, they are regular people too. You could be saying that about male teachers. There are some that are sick in the head but 99% of them are just like you and i, they share the same credentials and morals as us. Pedophiles are the people you should be questioning their involvement in such activities

Just cuz a guy's gay doesn't make him a pedophile. I know some gay guys that are very good with kids.

By that token are we to ban heterosexual men from coaching girls sports teams?
Should lesbians or gays not be allowed to work on an infant ward of a hospital.
To Gerry K: gay DOES NOT equal abnormal. Don't worry, your children won't catch the gayness. I hope you aren't a teacher or basketball coach letting your opinions be rubbed off on the children.
