Take the rings out - believe me - you don't want them in for either nursing or pumping. Hopefully you will be successful at nursing because it really is the best thing you can do for the baby - it's incredible how beneficial it is to them! Good luck & congrats on the new little one!!

1) My nipple piercings didn't feel really comfortable until I stretched them to 10ga. So IMO, 10 gauge is the best because 14 and 12 felt too thin to me. 2)Titanium is best for a new piercing. It is very rare to have an allergic reaction with titanium. 3) Barbells are best.. I've read curved is best, but I healed mine fine with straight ones. You don't want the ring because they get nocked around easier, which can prolong healing time and irritate the piercing. They can also rotate easier, which pushes the crusties back into the hole and can cause lots of pain. 4)The cost is different everywhere.. I've heard anywhere from $60-$120. The best way to find out is to ask a local piercer. 5)To care for them you do sea salt soaks twice a day. Other than that leave them alone. If you're a female (which it looks like you are based on your avatar), I found that sleeping with a bra on helped them a lot. If I didn't, I had angry nipples when I woke up. There may be more soreness before or during your monthly cycle, but that's normal. They take 6-12 months to heal, sometimes longer. And that long until you can go swimming and change jewelry.

Yes, you do need to remove the rings first--you don't want to risk your baby swallowing them, and they could get in the way of effective nursing.
As for whether scar tissue might effect the milk flow, the only way to know is to try. You may find that milk comes out the holes where the rings went, and most likely you won't have a problem getting enough milk to your baby.

You will need to take the out for the whole time you're breastfeeding, which means they are probably going to close up, but you can get them pierced again if you'd like to later on. Don't keep putting them in and taking them out during the months that you're feeding, because that will leave you susceptible to infection, and I don't know if you've ever had a nipple piercing infection, but they're painful!
I would recommend taking them out now, to give them time to heal. Almost all piercing holes are going to produce puss for awhile while healing back up, and if your baby's mouth is going to be on ther, you really don't want puss mixing with your milk...

Breastfeeding your child is so very healthy for both of you! It's a wonderful choice.
YES....you can breastfeed with pierced nipples. It is suggested that you take them out to nurse. Personally, I'd probably take them out while pumping too. I would think it would be uncomfortable to pump with them in. Pumping is very different than nursing.....a different sensation. I pumped for my first but never with a piercing.

Yes remove the nipple rings before you nurse... so as not to risk the baby possibly swallowing one of the balls. It will not effect your nursing ability. you may or may not be able to pop them in and out before and after feeding. depending on how sensitive you are.

I would said yes, remove the rings now and let the holes recover. and remember to steriliser ur breast and nipples by a hot towel.
If you intend to breastfeed.Totally no for rings even you are not latching or pumping of milk, because you want to looks or feels secure, this may cause harms the baby and germs may attack them, think of the baby they are innocent.

You would do well to remove them...IF you can even breastfeed, you may have sealed up a duct or 5 with your nipple rings. Boy, are you in for some pain if they are...

OUCH!! I would say no, but ask the dr. If you've had them a while can't you take them out while feeding/pumping and put them back in? Sorry, but that just grosses me out!!

Do you have a big satan tattoo between your breasts as well? I keep seeing a lot of gals getting inked like pirate dudes...anyway, that would have to freak a baby out - looking at a flaming skull while suckling away...bunch of future Charlie Mansons on the way...
