I believe two parties for America is not enough - what I propose is have the right-wing form their own party - the Conservative Party of America, make the Republican Party strictly progressive and move it to the center, and keep the Democrats on the left as usual.

Then you'll be splitting the votes of what WAS the Republican party, giving the Dems control of everything. Under your analogy, you should also have the liberals split from the Dems to equal out the playing field. Besides, there is more disention in the Dems with a closer mix of conservatives and liberals than in the Repubs. Jimmy Carter, Zell Miller, and Joe Leiberman come to mind!

Actually look at what the Republicans have done with their control of congress. They held more than 100 hours of hearings on the Clinton White House misusing the White House Christmas card list. And they have held less than twelve hours of hearings on the prison at Abu Grahib. Obviously the only thing that they care about is keeping the power they have, not using that power for the good of the country. The democrats under Clinton moved into the middle. The republicans under Bush have moved way right except in fiscal matters where they are way to the left of everyone. Budget deficits have never been popular with conservatives before.

I proposed that the conservatives and the entire Republican Party all go do ducks!

And keep off the Dems back as a whole!

As for Liberals - Keep saying fu*k it! Because it's all going to be over in a little while anyway. Live each as though it's your last because in the directions that the conservatives and the Republican Party is taking us, they're going to miss the bus as far as the nukes that the Oriental generation is about to put on our a*ses!

The Republicans have already shifted to the center. The problem is that the Dems have moved so far left that the lines have been eradicated.

Most Republicans that I know are not extreme right-wingers. They simply want the government out of their lives. There are too many laws that are infringing on our day-to-day lives, and too many taxes are being taken away from hard-working citizens to be given to lazy slackers and illegals.

There is a third party, the Independents. We are the silent center majority, we are not the extremists you see/hear in the news. We are the working people who go about our lives and keeping the economy and this country alive.

on an identical time as i could prefer a extra libertarian GOP (end the drug conflict, get out of the ME, decrease the funds in 0.5 and end maximum entitlements), the Republicans do not ought to do something. maximum real conservatives (like me) are going Obama, and yet McCain remains very close. Why could they alter the occasion whilst a lame candidate nonetheless gets very practically 0.5 the vote?

The dems and repubs and politics are so full of queers that the normal people are going to have to do something, why not a party that serves average normal people, call it the average Joe party.

The ultra-right neocons have essentially hijacked the Republican Party, making it less the party of Lincoln and more the party of Chrysler, so go for it!

Many moderate and fiscal conservatives are already being targeted by neocons and fundies as "RINOS" (Republicans in Name Only) for not subscribing to their nutjob agenda, so it's inevitable, IMO.
