when frost hits and trys to destroy orange crops the farmers rush out to their feilds and spray water on the oranges. They way the oranges will not freeze up and go bad. The Ice acts as an insulator. Same with bugs and their eggs. Once a bug lays an egg the snow or ground (where ever they lay their eggs) are insulated until spring when it is warm enough. Bugs don't have much of a life. Some bugs are only alive for one day and some a week or two and some for a year or more. I hope that clears things up.

Depends on the bug. Most lay eggs and die. The eggs hatch in the spring when conditions are right...voila...new bugs. Wasps and hornets leave behind a queen who hibernates for the winter...the rest of the wasps and hornets die. In spring she emerges and is ready to go. Honeybees are the only creatures who hive through the winter.

Other life forms on earth are way different from humans. Some fish can go into stasis in dry sand for years until water comes back. Many sea creatures, including whales, can go for months without any food, and bugs are a wholly different story. Actually it is not death but dormancy.

they don't die, they go into a deep sleep, or burrow in the walls of a house or in the ground or something. ever dig a hole? that's there all the nasty big beetle like bugs go in the winter, deep in the dirt. i wish they died. flies die, but they leave behind tons of eggs and larvae unfortunately
