“As you know, we don’t have relationships with Iran. I mean, that’s ever since the late 1970’s, we have no contact with them, and we’ve totally sanctioned them. In other words, there’s no sanctions-you can’t –we are out of sanctions”—George W. Bush, Annandale, Virginia, August 9, 2004.

Did he just forget that insignificant little time between 1980 and 1988, when we covertly sold arms to Iran (aka the Iran-Contra affair)?

I will try to be delicate here. Does Dubya know anything about anything? Why do we put up with him being in office? He didn't win either of the elections. He & his illegitamate regime have perpatrated illegal & immoral acts in the name of fighting terrorism. If he were the leader of any other country that has any semblence to a democracy there would be revolution. I know it's hard to admit that one's own government is not a rightious & benificent one, but u know what they say: "Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery".

By the way.....Where are the WMD's?

You must define the word "relationship" in the context of the question asked. I would take it to mean a formal relationship that includes the exchange of ambassadors, trade agreements, treaties, cultural exchanges, and so forth. The Iran-Contra stupidity was an illegal act that in no way can be described as a relationship. It was a fair piece of idiocy. However, you must keep in mind that there are always backchannel operations going on. These are temporary arrangements that benefit both parties. You'd be surprised at what these are. But they are done with the full knowledge of various committees of the House and Senate. Iran-Contra was illegal, not because the operation was so much different than what usually goes on, but that Ollie North and friends defied Congress. That's what was illegal about it.

a different time a different place a different people. Example: We WERE at WAR with JAPAN....1941-1945...we are CURRENTLY friends, so what's the point of bringing up history if it isn't relevant?
P.S. Did you know that it was widely accepted that Ronald Reagan was going to launch a major offensive to free our hostages from Iranian control in 1981. Yep. It was expected that shortly after his inauguration, Reagan was going to take BIG action. He didn't have to. Why? Because they let our people go a day or two before he took over. Widely regarded as fear of an all out offensive. History Michele? I know, because I joined the army to be a part of the offensive we all knew was coming.

Most Americans have forgotten LTC North and his secretary who put classified information in her panties. They've also forgotten that USA helped the Taliban get the Russians out of Afghanistan.

I have to agree with you, I don't think Bush knows anything about American History... and I will give you a current example that has to do with his own family.
So we had the whole Gulf War with his dad, and Bin Laden was on our side, we trained Bin Laden...Saddam and Bin Laden were enemies... so when Bin Laden attacked us, we attacked his worst enemy... hmmm go figure

Don't you have better things to do than review Bush's speeches. He doesn't even write them. This is the third post in the last hour in which you make a poor attempt to Bush-Bash

Reagan took action for the safe return of our people being held as hostages.

A better question is how could Carter have allowed this to happen in the first place and how could he have allowed our people to be held as long as they were?

Did the flag burning baby killing left conveniently forget about that?
