I have been studying this for a few months now.

It is because this is a public forum with a certain amount of annonymity involved. People feel a lot more comfortable being jackasses and giving stupid remarks than putting in the time to actually think about an answer and give a heartfelt response.

I try to give good answers, but sometimes I just answer with one word.

I've wondered the exact same thing. I know that some of the questions are kind of stupid or make no sense at all, but there are a lot of really good questions and some people are really nasty when they answer. I think it's because a lot of people are just trying to earn a lot of points. I guess that's the chance we take for asking a question on line and anyone can give an answer. You get what you ask for.

If you ask a question you need to now the truth i don't think its been heartless or nasty the person asking want the truth plus it depends on how you read the answer.

I wouldn't take it too seriously, there is no great prize at the end of it. I get shitty answers all the time, but just choose to ignore them. I think that this question thingy gives people the opportunity to be mean, sarcastic or nasty because they have a problem with verbalising their anger and aggression in real life. Here they can be totally anonymous and no one will ever no who they are.

To answer for myself, I always give sincere and honest answers.
Some people on here are obviously morons, and quite truthfully, I can't believe some of the answers I've seen. If it looks like a "stupid" question, I usually don't bother answering it. There's no need to insult someone.
But that's the world, most people are jerks and we just have to deal with it and not let it affect us. If you're a good person and you have a good heart, that's all that matters at the end of the day!

Some people are just immature and some are wannbe comedians.

Some people feel that the type of question posed is too ridiculous to warrant a mature answer.

Some people have a chip on their shoulder and/or poor self-esteem and feel the need to abuse/ridicule others.

Some people feel that the "No question is a silly question" is invalid and fail to realize that there are many of us who do not have the same level of knowledge or have had the same experiences.

Some people fail to realize that one way to increase a person's knowledge is by becoming curious and looking for answers to problems/issues they do not already possess.

Interesting. My nickname is "evil" Ewels. I think young people have a "worldview" which is quai-religious in these non-religious times. I'm 27 now, and I'm shocked how young people OCCASIONALLY behave. I think generally old people have phobia of young people -especially teens. They detect that and behave accordingly. I'm actually quite shy, but if someone is shy to me, I'm quite domineering. Funny. Perhaps it's subconciouse.

Anyway, p.c also plays apart. People get offended so easily perhaps the problem is oversensitivity. Depends on the situation I guess. Perhaps resist biting?

Because some of the questions have been asked over and over and all some people need to do is look in resolved questions. Besides the fact some of the questions are really stupid!!

I have wondered the same thing-
I have seen some responses on here that absolutely floor me.
I have the feeling they are so nasty here because they don't have the nerve to be nasty to "real people"
The anonymity afforded here allows people to act without regard to how their opinions might affect their reputation. What a shame it is people don't realize: that character is defined by what you do when no one is watching.

Some questions are dumb but when answering a valid question, then the person is just trying to get a 2 point increase.
