My daughter caught her 1st cold. She is sneezing and her nose is constantly running. No fever yet. Is there any medicine for these symptoms? Is it possible that she may just be teething?

You're a first-time mom, aren't you? Bless your heart. My 10 month-old is on his first cold right now - I'm not giving him anything for it. He just has a little runny nose (like your daughter), I just keep wiping under his nose so he doesn't get a rash. Same with my daughter, just keep wiping. I don't give them anything unless they get a fever. Even then, if it's a mild fever, I'll think twice about medicating. Mild fevers are good, they help get rid of the sickness. She could be teething also, but runny noses and sneezing is not a symptom of that. Excessive drooling, fussing, crying at night when she never had before - those are some signs of teething.

I suggest takling to your doctor for the official word, but my baby got her first cold at about 3 months. opefully you have a nasal aspirator - I call it a snot sucker lol. That is what you squeeze to get the mucus out of the baby's nose - try to only use it when really needed as the opening of the baby's nose can get irritated (nurse told me this at hospital). Also - plain old saline drops that adults use - but don't squirt up - tilt the baby's head and drop 1-3 drops in and then let it work - it will help loosen the phlehm (spelling?).

If it doesn't go away in a week it may be allergies so be sure to talk to yuor doc. I have never heard of either symptom as teething, so she may be teething - but those wouldn't be the signs I'd go by.

My son is also 8 months and he's got a runny nose, he has no fever. I'm sure its because he is teething, he has been this way for week over a week, no coughing no sneezing, just a runny nose... i know that tylenol makes a good infant cough syrup, but check with your doctor first because u dont want to give him that if its her teeth...

Since my daughter was 6 months old I was told by her doctor I could use "Pedicare". You would have to check with them to see how much the dose is. It all depends on her weight. I had to use some recently and I had to call the nurse to find out the dose. Since she is now older the dose did go up. So check with your baby's doctor. I also use a Vaporizer with the medicine cup on the top. It helps as well.

As a mother of four, the youngest being 17 months old, I recommend "Pediacare". And don't forget that nasal syringe that you got when she was born. Use it to suction the mucus out of her nose every once in a while. She'll hate you while your doing it, but she is going to be a lot more comfotable when you are done. Good Luck!

Sounds like a cold. You don't always get a fever with a runny nose. Babies are just like you and me. We don't always have a fever when we're sick.
Get your baby some children's Motrin for Colds. Most likely, it will be behind the pharmacy counter because of all of the crazy drug addicts and parents who steal baby stuff.

there is tylenol cold for infants but my pediatrician says that it doesn't work.......
this is how kids are with the change of season and with everyone indoors.........if they are in daycare.......even worse.......they can get a cold a month or even twice a month......

Right now....let her ride through it......
use a humidifer in the room she is in all the time and the bedroom......
use Vick's vapo rub......or baby Vick's if it's available....
if you have to use the Vick's....put a layer of Vaseline on to dilute it....put it on her chest, back and neck....and even behind her ears.

Use the aspirator to clear up her nasal passage.....
and if you can get your hands on the baby vac......get it......
it's amazing.........best investment I have for colds for my daughter........she had a cold 3 times before she turned one....
so it's a great tool!

no, i don't think its teething. try her on a vaporizer with the KAZ brand med in the cup of the vaporizer. try for 2-5 days, if she doesn't get any better call your baby doc, there is no otc medication on the market yet for infants that young, but there are several herbal remedies that can be found, if you are adverse to medications.
