doing a report on speed and agility for exercise physiology module in college and have already done the Vertical jump test..have this "ammortisation stage" jotted down but haven't got an iota what it is

The amortisation stage is the name given to the time it takes for a muscle to change from eccentric to concentric action. The longer the delay, the slower the jump, and the less power will be generated.

Check out plyometrics - it's a training system built on reducing the amortisation stage to increase the speed/power of a vertical jump, among other things.
