I'm going to send you to some hardcopy sources...and the library. (Great place to hang out----and librarians are the Not-So-Secret-Masters of the Universe, because they control information. Enlist them freely!--they're fantastic people who know a lot more than just how to shelve books.)

Grab hold of a bunch of back issues of "Science News" (which is a weekly digest of science reporting) and Scientific American (which is a monthly journal, designed for a general, but well-educated readership). Both should be available in a high school library or public library; neither is terribly frightening; both are highly reputable. Trust me.

Now, simply start flipping through the pages, and see if any of the headings, articles, or pictures start catching your eye....hmmm, " 'Saber-toothed sausages' "and it's talking about naked mole rats?---sounds weird; let me read a bit---MAN, they are UGLY..... "Why giraffes DON'T faint when bending to drink"---? neat!

Don't be surprised if you find about thirty different things that just look **too cool** to pass up, and that you've spent the whole day reading! (And that you're heading to the library catalog for a couple of books on topics A, B, and maybe C, because something you read sounded really wild.)

Have fun! The Internet is a great tool, but hardcopy really rocks!

Do a web-search...try 'science news, odd'. Of course, double check how valid the science is...some people will claim anything just to get attention. Wikipedia is usually pretty good...
