How to have the kids have a good time with grandma. What suggestions do you have for entertaining a 10, 7 year old girls and two 5 year old boys. Somethings we can all do that they will think is fun and remember.

Baking cookies is a classic. Let the kids knead the dough and cut out shapes, they can decorate things like Gingerbread men. When the cookies are done add a glass of milk, but make sure that at least one cookie from each child survives long enough for the parents to admire them.

Smells (like baking) are particularly long-lasting strong memories.

Aloha

scrapbooking is fun for most ages. The girls would definitely love it, and maybe you could pair them up.....make sure you use safety scissors! Share anything you have, old magazines, old family photos (provided you don't mind them being cut up), and work with the kids. A half decent scrapbook starter kit is only about 30 bucks, the things in it can be used over and over, and it's something they may pick up on as a new hobby. Plus the conversations to be had over a hobby table are sometimes the most memorable part of the experience. And in the end, you'll have a cool scrapbook page to enter in a book, frame, or just put on the fridge to show off to guests!

How about clove oranges?

All you do is get 1 small orange per person, and a couple packages of cloves. Sit around together and completely cover the oranges by sticking the cloves in them.

Once the oranges are completely covered, the cloves will preserve the oranges so that they don't rot. They make wonderful projects to do, lots of talk and giggle time while you're doing them, and they get to take home a project that Grandma taught them that smells wonderful. Every time they go into their room, they'll smell the oranges and think of that time.

My kiddos love doing these. We all sit down and do them together every year about this time. My kids range from 3 to 13. The 3 yr old still needs help with this one tough.

Go camping! It is something everyone will remember, and want to go back and do again, and it will also be a great bonding experience for everyone. Can I suggest Ginnie Springs in Florida? The campground is loaded with things to do for every age group. Canoeing, kayaking, tubing, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, hiking. Really something for everyone, and the kids will have a blast! Check out their website. http://www.ginniespringsoutdoors.com/
And don't forget your camera!

I had my two grand kids make a memory scrap book....we went out for a long walk...and along the way we gathered things that caught our eye...such as a pretty leaf...flower...rock...bugs...it was amazing what they found to pick up. We later went back home and I got out the construction paper, glue. markers and white typing paper, yarn and paper hole savers(whatever they are called) And we began to tell our own little stories about our little adventure. And since my little grandson passed away a couple of years ago....it is the one of the greatest keepsakes that I have of that time spent together.
We also made a little snowman....it was too cold to go outside...so we brought winter inside. We once again...made a quick trip outside...picked up a couple of twigs, a big pan full of snow and each of us made a snowman. The whole time we talked about what snow makes after it melts...and what would be left behind after it melted...really got them to think.....the twigs....the beans(eyes) and so forth.
