move to another group in class since my group is very noninformative about the group assignment and likes to talk about other things than the group assignment that we do not turn in. The teacher put the class in groups. I know of a group that have at least two good acquantance already though. One of the guy in the group that I know of is very informative about any subject. so I am thinking about secretly switching to that same group. If the teacher says anything about my new switched group, I'll just tell the teacher about my old slacker group and I'm sure my teacher would understand. The teacher wants the group to work. I'm in college and I do not think the teacher is strict about the group seating.

So, do you think it is okay to switch groups without teacher's permission?

Since the teacher put you in the groups, I'd check with the teacher if it was alright to switch. Since there is no group grade, the teacher probably won't mind if you switch. If you are getting no help from being in the group, and you're paying for college to learn, you bet your butt you should try to switch and get more out of the class. Unless you want to let a bunch of slackers waste your time and money.

So you're surrounded by mopes. Instead of taking the initiative and running with this you want to switch to another group that you consider on equal footing with you or better?

Why? Are you so lacking in self confidence of your abilities that you find this necessary? Or do you lack the initiative to take the bull by the horns and become a leader in a group of simpletons? perhaps you're more the "follower" type. Hence wanting to move to another group. You do what you want. personally...I'd stay where I am and take control The teacher will see who the leader of the group is and who has the brains. If the others want to sink don't offer them your life jacket. Let 'em drown.

So what it is sweet pea? Going to take a stand and take control or run away?

how about you tell the teacher that your current group is not working at a pace that you like. or you could just take the lead and make things happen. i used to hate group projects until i started going into everyone with a plan of action and a division of work. just say here are the things we need to do who is good at Y. okay here you go. and so on.
