Which is the better buy - Playstation or Xbox?

well i have two boys one has a ps2 the other has an xbox the ps2 is on all the time and the xbox has been used twice since my son had it 2 years ago so that says it all really,i should sell it really and get another ps2.

The PlayStation 3 is going to cost about about $600. The XBox360 is about $400 and the Nintendo Wii will be about $400 and will come with a game to play.
Ask him what kind (titles) of games that he either plays or has heard of. Some games are only available on certain consoles so that might make the decision easy. I own an XBox360 and a Nintendo Game Cube. I'll be buying the Wii when comes out in November. I won't be buying a PlayStation because the games I like to play are available for all the consoles and the 5 or 6 that I like that are exclusive to a particular console, are either XBox or Nintendo.
The PlayStation is very popular but i don't see anything about it that makes it superior to the others. Not to mention the outrageous price tag. The PS2 that people are telling you about is a hand-held game. The Nintendo DS is the other very popular hand-held game. These are not considered consoles. They're used more because the kids, and adults, can take them anywhere. Especially during long car rides or visits to relatives.
Go with the XBox360 or the Nintendo Wii if you want a console.
Actually, if you just ask him casually what console or hand-held he wishes he had, he may tell you. The hand-helds are not cheap either. They go for about $200.
And, the games for all the units mentioned are all about $55 - $95 each.

Xbox 360 is pretty good but playstation 2 has a lot more games and is much more popular then x box. The best games are only for playstation 2 and if they arnt they all come out on playsttioin 2 first. Play station to is a more exclusive gift to buy but x box 360 can be cheaper(depending on your choice of purchase) playstation 2 sockets are everywhere while for x box u may need adapter but x box is easier to carry. Decide on what you need but personally I would go with playstation

well between xbox and PS2, even though i like xbox, i think that the PS2 controller, 1st off is easier to use, if hes younger.

the graphics on xbox are better but not extremely better.
i like the games better also. There are only a couple of games that one has that the other dosnt, like xbox has halo and halo 2, and ps2 has devil may cry and such.

if the controller isnt an issue i would go with xbox, but they are both really good. u might want to also talk to his friends somehow and see what system they have, and get that one!

if its xbox 360 and ps3 i would get xbox 360. they are going to have better, games in my opinion. I really dont like that Japanese like margic sword or RPG or what ever.

Personally I'd go for the playstation 2 depending on how old he is, they have a far wider assortment of games at a very reasonable price.

playstation ages 4-13
xbox ages 14-17

i think this would be the best for either age because with the xbox there is more action games like shooting and violence and there is accesories of a stearing wheel and pedal

Xbox all the way because the graphics are way b etter their is a wide variety of games and they are fun for every1 i think so yeah XBOX is the choice
