Try Deb or JCPenney. They have a great selection of pants and suits that are dressy without being professional. Plus, neither store is expensive, since you probably won't wear it often enough to make it worth it to spend several hundred dollars on an outfit.

Try JCPenny or Macy's just get a nice pair of slacks (black is your best bet for a dressy occasion), and a cute sweater. To dress up the outfit, get some great shoes (heels, of course) and accessories (dangle earrings, unless you have diamond studs), a watch, and a necklace OR brooch (NEVER BOTH). And of course, get a great handbag.

Well to try and dress up your look you could where a pair of new Nice pale colored jeans with a shirt and suit jacket with a pair of boots that match the shirt. That should make you feel comfortable and stylish.

Go to the mall or any department store. There are unlimited options available for what you are searching. The sales associate would be the best person to ask and they will assist you in your taste and style.

If it's formal it would have to be a dress. There are places you can rent one if it will only be for one time. I did this for my daughter's prom gown. A lot cheaper than buying it for a one-time event.

Go to the mall and try a few places. If your budget allows, try Macy's, if not JC Penney. Or Limited, they have nice stuff.

And I would recommend a pair of nice 3" or 4" black pumps if you can handle them.
