From modern times, black has been associated with the darkness, the shadows, and nothing good ever came from the shadows. The fear of the unseen led to the social correlation of black being evil and white being good. It is, however, asinine to translate the association with these symbols to skin colors because after all, they are only symbols and even they can be wrong sometimes.

Black is always considered as associated with evil or bad things. That is why if you make a grave mistake in your performance in office or life, you are given a 'black mark'.
