Once a burn is in your formica, you really can't remove it.

Either cover the spot with a cutting board, or indulge in that kitchen makeover you've wanted for awhile. :)

It is not a stain, so it will not come out. You have burned the work top and in doing so, altered the composition of the worktop. If you burn wood, is there any way of returning the wood to the state it was in before it was burned? No. The only way to remove the burn is to replace the laminate or work top.

Not much will work. My kids did that and I had to replace the counter top eventually. If this turns out to be the case for you, try to replace the top with something that is not plastic or made of plastic products such as soapstone, marble or guaranteed not-burn surface. You might also try recovering the worktop with ceramic tile. Just pick the design you want and install yourself.

PUT IN ONE OF THOSE PYREX GLASS CUTTING BOARD IN A "HOOTIE RING" - DID THE SAME THING IN 1984 WHILE RENTING! ( THE BASTARD LANDLORD DIDN'T APPRECIATE THE UPGRADE!)
