The latest was "The Devil Wore Prada". What a bore! I didn't find one second remotely entertaining or funny.
Yet this film has been an enormous success everywhere, taking $100 million in USA alone. Am I crazy? Wrong? Do I have different taste to almost everyone else? Help!

I'm with you my friend. Most films that are recommended to me or, more likely, over hyped by the media, tend to be rubbish. I stick with foreign language films, particularly french films. The best film I've seen recently was BonBon El Perro (Bon Bon the Dog) which was filmed in Argentina, it's a bleak masterpiece but if you're not into dogs or Argentina, it'll be a bore!

I think the films that get a lot of promotion are never that great. It also seems like the ones with more "big names" in it or nominations for awards aren't that great either. I'm usually let down. They also show the best parts in the previews, so by the time you go to the movie you've already seen what you went to see. As far as "The Devil Wore Prada" - I didn't see it, but I read the book and the book was very funny (that's why I'm not seeing the movie - I didn't want to ruin the book).

Yes, I agree. Although I have not seen "devil" I do find that my taste differs from mainstream. Leaving Las Vegas was bad. I saw it twice because it got such good ratings.

I am blank on more movies but as a rule, the more it is praised, the less I will like it.I absolutely loved DUNE, back in 84 when all it did was get trashed. Of course now it, the story anyway has made a comeback.

Nothing is wrong with you. Go rent Brick, The United States of Leland, The Squid and the Whale, Spun, 21 Grams, The Corpse Bride, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
There's no way I'd go see The Devil Wears Prada, I'd rather eat glass.
If you watch those movies, let me know, you can go to my profile and email me.

I think that everyone has a different taste in films. So, therefore I do not think that you are either crazy or wrong. Maybe it is just the fact that some films aren't funny anymore, as we have seen it all before, making it so predictable.

I don't think I have ever went to the movie theater in recent years because now all I buy are DVDs. Not only can I watch them over and over again, not that I ever have, but I get extras that you don't get to see in the theater, even though I don't look at that either. However, the luxury for me to do that is there. Plus, I always do a research and read some reviews about the movie before I buy the DVD. Today's movies are really overrated and lack orginality, many of the horror movies today are remakes of older versions, and I usually prefer to watch older versions. Also, the movies I buy, I don't care too much about story lines and such because I like gorey movies, and I bought the DVD to see the gore and that's that.

Being made in God's image has not something to do with the way we glance. God isn't a guy hence God can not look like a guy. God is a spirit. Spirits do not want air to stay alive. God is a male yet not a guy using fact he's not a individual (no guy has ever considered God at every time). A male lion can't be mentioned as a guy using fact he's not a individual. To be made in God's image skill human beings have been created with skill to worship mutually as animals weren't.

There's nothing wrong with you: people have different tastes, that's all.

I personally loved "The Devil Wore Prada," but I would NEVER go see "The Grudge." I do know plenty of people who are anxious to go see it, however.

If anyone gives you a hard time about any movies you liked/didn't like/want to see/want to avoid, simply tell them your taste in movies is different from theirs. No problem.

I agree for the most part, because I STILL don't understand how American Beauty beat The Green Mile for best pic.

American Beauty was ok, but LOVED The Green Mile and thought it was a better movie.

But that's the beauty of it. We all have different tastes and we have a variety of movies to choose from.

I'm sure your taste is fine! Don't worry about what others consider "wonderful", just enjoy the ones you consider "wonderful"!

Naw... your not crazy, you just have different tastes. Which is a good thing. Plus there aren't a lot of great films on at the moment. They get good ratings because of the money put into advertising them.
