my dvd is power dvd.ive tried auto insertion which is okay and my
drivers seem to be okay

Does it not read DVD-ROM data discs? You probably need to install software to play DVD movies.... Doublecheck how the drive is displayed in control panel, make sure it's seen as a DVD drive.

Will a dvd play in windows player, have you tried real player,i know you can only change the region so many times,after that not sure what happens

try searching the internet for "dvd decoder", ( a dvd decoder is somethig where it can see and detect a dvd in your drive and play it) and find a free one, (there out there just dig a bit for it) install it and then try playing it with whatever program plays dvds, this site should have one, if you want a better one you would be better off buying a dvd decoder. this should work...ive had this problem before. :)
